The first step of managing your hazardous substances is knowing what you've got.  This sample spread sheet [.xls 26kb] will get you started.

Table of Thresholds for Emergency Management Level 3 & Signage

EMthresholdthumb
This further table of threshold quantities [.pdf, 79kb], will assist in managing your HSNO obligations regarding emergency response plan, secondary containment and signage. Don't forget that other legislation, local body regulations and best practice may require this management at lower thresholds than HSNO.

List of Hazard Classifications

classchartthumb
Chemsafety has made available a listing of hazard classifications [.pdf, 90kb]. If you have trouble remembering what the hazard classifications under HSNO mean, you will find this useful.

Table of Incompatible Substances

incompatiblethumb
HSNO specifies incompatible substances for hazard classes 2-5 [.pdf, 92kb], that need to be segregated. You will be aware that individual substances may have specific incompatibilities that are not listed here.

Table of Thresholds for Location Certification, Approved Handlers & Tracking

thresholdthumb
This table of threshold quantities [.pdf, 75kb], will assist in managing your HSNO obligations. Don't forget that some specific substances have had these thresholds changed, and that if you have several types of flammable liquids (for example) you need to combine the 'quantity ratio' for each class.

Periodic Table of the Elements
