Janet completed her B.Sc.(Hons) in Chemistry at the University of Canterbury in 1997.

Following this she went to Texas as a research student at Southwestern University. While there she co-presented a poster "Transition Metal Complexes of Polyamide Cages and Macrocylces" at the 215th ACS National Meeting in Dallas.

In 2000 Janet completed the Graduate Diploma in Laboratory Technology at Christchurch Polytechnic Institute of Technology.

Since joining Chemsafety in July 2002 as the Technical Officer, Janet has expanded her skills and is now a Senior Chemical Consultant, and HSNO Test Certifier.

Janet's key areas of expertise include

  • HSNO - Janet is Chemsafety's HSNO Specialist.  As well as undertaking Test Certification, Janet will avise you on your best options for hazardous substance management.
  • Training - Along with Elizabeth Jenkins, Janet provides training for approved handlers, and also site-specific sessions in chemical handling, safety data sheet interpretation, and laboratory HSNO management.
  • Industrial Hygiene - Janet is one of the team of Chemsafety consultants providing industrial hygiene solutions
  • Systems - If you are looking for a more accessible way of accessing the report information provided, Janet has developed a number of web, database and spreadsheet solutions to make routine management of chemical risk an easier task.
